Q: What is the salmon seasoned with?
A: house Teriyaki sauce.

Q: What is in the Tampopo Ramen?
A: beef, pork and chicken broth, ramen noodles, chashu(braised pork), bean sprouts, scallions, and boiled egg on top ? caution: super hot/spicy!


Q: What is the difference between the bowl and the bento box?
A: The bowl is simply meat/tofu with a couple stems of broccoli and rice, where as the bento box is meat/tofu with rice, edamame, a side salad (when eaten-in only), and your choice of broccoli, mushroom, seaweed, or egg cake. Also, the bowl is served in a bowl and the bento box is served in a compartmentalized box.


Q: How spicy are the hot/spicy dishes?
A: If you generally enjoy spicy food, then you will like the spiciness of our food. However, if you have a low tolerance for spicy food, you can ask us to make it mild!

Q: What are your vegetarian dishes?
A: Yes! Yakisoba pan-fried noodles vegetable only or tofu, bi-bim-bob vegetable only or tofu, vegetable gyoza, salads, tofu bowls and bento boxes, japchae vegetable only or tofu, kimchi, edamame, curry bowl with or without tofu, tofu kimchi bowl, seaweed salad, and green tea ice cream :).

Q: Can you make my salmon rare?
A: Sorry, we cannot accommodate this due to health regulations.

Q: I have a wheat allergy; is anything on the menu gluten-free?
A: Unfortunately most of our products are wheat, soy, and teriyaki based so we do not have a lot to offer for customers with wheat allergies. The only things we can offer are salads, and plain chicken or tofu without any teriyaki/hot sauce.

Q: Are there any peanuts in anything?
A: No, we do not use peanuts or peanut oil in any of our dishes.

Q: What is egg cake?
A: It is a layered Japanese omelet seasoned with soy sauce and fish sauce.

Q: Can I order take-out?
A: Yes.

Q: Do you deliver?
A: YES, but only tampopo @ university city. For delivery order information, please call 215-386-3866.

Q: What is in the fresh tuna bi-bim-bob?
A: All fresh (UNCOOKED) ingredients, except rice. Chunks of raw, sushi-grade tuna, slices of avocado, Korean pear, and cucumber, chopped iceberg lettuce, and red and white cabbage. It is served on a bed of white/brown rice, and topped off with scallions, sesame seed garnish, and house TunaBBB sauce. It is served with sauce on, but It can be ordered sauce on the side. Also, tuna chunks can be replaced by fresh or cooked tofu or both tuna and tofu (extra charge).


Q: Are there vegetables in a donburi rice bowl?
A: Most of the bowls just come with a couple stems of broccoli, but the vegetable bowl has 14 kinds of vegetables with rice and you can chicken or tofu for an additional cost.

Q: What is in the vegetable bowl?
A: 14 kinds of fresh vegetables quickly pan sauted with hints of teriyaki, soy sauce and sesame oil. Vegetables include bok choy, broccoli, snow peas, zucchini, white mushroom, carrots, red and green bell peppers, celery, bean sprouts, onions and seasonal vegetables. Served on a bed of white or brown rice. Sauce on the side(SOS) offers teriyaki or hot/spicy sauce only.

Q: What is in the yakisoba pan-fried noodles?
A: Soba noodles, bean sprouts, broccoli, carrots, snow peas, onions, and mushrooms, all topped with sesame seeds. Chicken or tofu can be added for an additional charge, and it can be made hot/spicy.

Q: What is the range for the pager devices?
A: Works within two blocks, for instance, at the bar inside Local 44 (Tampopo3). We tested it!

Q: What is in the Udon soup?
A: Thick wheat flour noodles served in a hot broth (dashi, soy sauce, and Japanese cooking wine) with a pieces of kamaboko (half-moon shaped fishcake), fried tofu, snow peas, carrots, and broccoli. Shichimi (seven-flavor spice mixture, mainly Japanese chili pepper) is added to taste (spicy, of course), and topped with chopped scallions and seaweeds.


Q: So what is the difference between the Udon and Soba soup?
A: Both have the same ingredients, the difference is the noodle. Udon is a thick wheat noodle and Soba is a thin buckwheat noodle.

Q: What is katsu?
A: It is a Japanese style of breading and deep frying using Japanese breadcrumbs known as Panko. For chicken breast cutlets only, and served with Katsu sauce on the side.

Q: What is gyu-don?
A: It is a beef and onion mixture, which is marinated with soy sauce and Japanese cooking wine.

Q: What is gyoza?
A: Japanese style dumpling that can be pan-fried usually with gyoza sauce on the side. but it can be steamed or deep-fried.
